“You will either step forward into GROWTH, or you will step back into SAFETY.” - Abraham Maslow
Whenever you set a goal that feels like it’s out of reach, you are opening yourself up to the possibility of quantum success. But if the goal is big enough, you will also inevitably run up against what Bob Proctor calls “The Terror Barrier”.
This will happen whenever you attempt to change your behavior or your lifestyle. Maybe you’re starting to understand that the way you’ve been acting in relationships isn’t serving you, you desire to act differently and you understand how it would benefit you if you did, so you decide to start acting that way.
But you discover promptly that you can’t. And not just that, you’re JUSTIFYING to yourself why not. Even though you have the ability to choose whatever thoughts you want, you continue to create from old habits. On a consicous level, you have an idea of the life you want to create, but when you try to put it into realization, you can’t.
That’s the terror barrier. It instantly inserts itself between you and the good you desire.
When this happens, you have a choice, you can step back into safety and continue to experience the same results year after year, or you can be courageous and experience the growth that you have been seeking.
